On 27 September, singer-songwriter Marike Jager will give a unique concert at Museum Speelklok, where she will perform her songs on a handmade music box.

Marike Jager is one of the Netherlands’ most original and beloved artists. At Museum Speelkok, she will be presenting her new EP, The Girl Who Turned into a Bed. During this concert, she will be performing her songs on a handmade music box, an instrument that fits perfectly into our collection of mechanical musical instruments.
In a unique setting, Marike takes you behind the scenes of her new music. She talks about writing for the music box, punching out the melodies and the inspiration she found in the wondrous world of filmmaker Tim Burton. As well as the new tracks, she’ll also be playing favourites from her repertoire. Afterwards, there’ll be an opportunity to buy a brand-new copy of the EP, which Marike will be happy to sign for you. About Marike Jager
Marike Jager grew up in Leusden and learnt to play the guitar whilst backpacking in Australia. She began her career by winning the prestigious ‘Grote Prijs van Nederland’, after which she built up an impressive and personal body of work, with several Edison Award nominations to her name. Marike is known for her playful, adventurous and melodious compositions. Her inspiration comes from artists such as Feist, The Beatles, Fiona Apple, Beck and Tim Burton, amongst others.
