Practical information
Museum Speelklok is the museum where machines make music! From tiny music boxes to giant dance organs, discover how music and technology come together in musical machines that play all by themselves.
Opening hours
We are open every Tuesday to Sunday from 10.00 to 17.00. Guided tours start every half hour throughout the day.
School holidays
During official school holidays, the museum is also open on Mondays from 10.00 to 17.00. There’s a guided tour every hour on these Mondays too.
Public holidays
The museum is open on Easter Sunday and Easter Monday, Liberation Day (May 5), Ascension Day, Whit Sunday and Whit Monday, Christmas Eve (until 16.00), Boxing Day and New Year’s Eve (until 16.00).
We are closed on New Year’s Day, King’s Day (April 27) and Christmas Day.

Collection enquiries
Do you have a question regarding our collection or own instruments? Please let us know via email address collectievraag@museumspeelklok.nl, including a description of the object and a photograph. We do not handle valuation requests or enquiries about non-mechanical instruments.
By public transport
Museum Speelklok is a 10-minute walk from Utrecht Central Station. From the station, you can also take city bus 2 going to ‘Museumkwartier’ and get off at the Domplein stop. From here, it is a 4-minute walk to the museum.
Tip: You no longer need to buy a separate ticket for public transport. With OVpay, you can easily check in and out with your debit card, credit card or mobile phone. Or request the new OV pass via ovpay.nl.
By car
The museum does not have its own parking facilities. From the Springweg and Hoog Catharijne car parks, it is less than a ten-minute walk to the museum.
Prefer to avoid the traffic in the city centre? Park at one of Utrecht’s P+R (Park and Ride) locations and travel to the city centre by public transport. With a P+R day ticket, you can combine parking with public transport.
By bike
Park your bike close to the museum in the free covered bike park on Zadelstraat. You can also park your bike behind the museum on Buurkerkhof.
Museum Speelklok considers it important for everyone to feel welcome at the museum and provides special facilities for visitors with disabilities.
While you’re in Utrecht… Why not combine your visit to Museum Speelklok with a boat tour along the canals with Rederij Schuttevaer, or climb to the top of the Dom Tower? Combined tickets are available at the ticket desks of Museum Speelklok, the Dom Tower and Schuttevaer.
