Christmas holidays
Magical christmas trees, jingling bells, and the most festive carols: celebrate the Christmas holidays at Museum Speelklok!
🎄 Compose a Christmas song
Compose your own Christmas song this Christmas holiday at the Music Factory! With a stave, a pencil and a pling-plong device, you can compose and play your own music. Place a card on the wooden board, choose a Christmas song, punch the holes with the punch pliers and… you’ve created your own Christmas melody!
🔔 Christmas Musical Tour
Jingle bells, jingle bells… During the Musical Tour, you will hear Christmas music coming from every corner of the museum! The street organs, orchestrions, and music boxes will play the most beautiful carols, and the self-playing musical Christmas tree will immerse you in the holiday spirit. Listen to classic Christmas tunes like Winter Wonderland, O Christmas Tree, and Last Christmas.
🎅🏻 Turn an organ
A traveling journey into the world of magical musical machines — that’s the Speelklok Roadshow. During the cold winter months, the Roadshow prefers to stay indoors, which is why you can admire it inside the museum during the Christmas holidays. Turn a little organ and earn your barrel organ diploma!
The Roadshow will be at the museum every day during the Christmas holidays (except 24 and 31 December) from 11.00 to 15.00.
❄️ Christmas concert Cappella Pratensis
On Friday 19 December, the internationally renowned ensemble Cappella Pratensis will bring the story of Sister Bertken to life in the Buurkerk, the place where she lived in seclusion centuries ago. In addition, Cappella Pratensis will also perform songs from its broader Christmas repertoire. This performance of music and storytelling promises to be a special Christmas experience! 🦌 And much more
There is also plenty more to do at the museum during the Christmas holidays! Search for Toon the organ monkey, explore the Museum Expedition, and learn more about mechanical music machines.
Opening hours
During the Christmas holidays, we’re also open on Monday 22 and 29, as well as on Boxing Day. We are closed on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. On December 24th and 31st, the museum will close a bit earlier, at 16.00.
