Making in the Makerspace
Not finished yet? In the Makerspace, you can carry on tinkering and experimenting to your heart’s content. Get started with one of the DIY kits and build your own crankshaft or organ pipe. That way, you can see up close how the mechanisms work together to make music!
Building with Octoplay
Use large Octoplay discs to build the craziest and most beautiful 3D structures. Put your imagination to work, and be inspired by the spinning gears and clever technology of our music machines.
Guided tour, treasure hunt & more
There’s plenty more to do at the museum during the summer holidays! Listen to the most beautiful musical instruments during the Musical Tour or join the hunt for Toon the organ monkey. Afterwards, you can compose your own song in the Music Factory!
The museum is coming to you
This summer, Museum Speelklok is coming to you! The Roadshow, a mini-museum on wheels, is once again touring the streets of Utrecht. Want to know if the Roadshow will be near you? Check the agenda here.
Opening hours
Good news: during the summer holidays, the Museum Speelklok will also be open on Mondays, from 10.00 to 17.00. So, from Monday 6 July, we’ll be open every day throughout the holidays. See you then!
Discover Music Machines & Me
How is music actually created… when there’s no musician in sight? How do gears suddenly make a tune play? In the music and technology lab Music Machines & Me, you’ll find out for yourself. Step by step, you’ll become a true creator of your very own digital music machine!
