Opening April 2026: Music Machines & Me
There is a fascinating world hidden within the historical music machines at Museum Speelklok. A world where there is music in technology.
It is our mission to inspire everyone with the wonder of technology in our music machines. With technical ingenuity, you can create the most beautiful things and solve the most difficult problems.
That’s why something stunning is about to happen at Museum Speelklok! We are working on Music Machines & Me, a brand new interactive space for creative minds and curious makers. Discover it from April 2026; we challenge you to help build the collection of the future.
Inspiration from unique collection of music machines
Music Machines & Me is all about our unique collection. That’s why you’ll find historical and new music machines from ingenious inventors and masterful makers here. To inspire you to create your own magical digital music machine together with your friends or family.
Marian van Dijk, director of Museum Speelklok: “Music makes technology fun! How wonderful it is when you can set something in motion yourself using mechanical technology. It boosts your self-confidence and awakens the inventor in you.”
We are very happy with the project support from various funds and of our subsidy providers. This will enable us to realise Music Machines & Me. We would therefore like to thank:
- Mondriaan Fonds, Dioraphte, VSB Fonds, Zabawas, Fenter van Vlissingen, Cultuurfonds, K.F. Hein Fonds, the Province of Utrecht and Friends of Museum Speelklok
- The City of Utrecht, VriendenLoterij
Museum collection and musical tours on the ground floor
The museum remains open as usual to visitors: all the top pieces can be admired and you can visit all the exhibition spaces on the ground floor. In addition, the musical tours have been expanded and children can continue to search for Toon the organ monkey. The Music Factory, where you can make music with a plingplong card, is now located on the ground floor next to the museum café.
We have now started the first steps of the redesign of the promenades on the first floor Want to stay up to date? Follow us on Instagram, Facebook, YouTube en TikTok.
